Who is Advocis?

Recognizing that consumers are best served by professional financial advisors, Advocis prepares, promotes and protects financial advisors in the public interest.

Advocis is the brand name of The Financial Advisors Association of Canada.

In September 2002, members of the Canadian Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (CAIFA) and the Canadian Association of Financial Planners (CAFP) voted in favour of merging their two groups to create Advocis, Canada's largest association of professional financial advisors, with members in 50 Chapters across the country.

The Advocis name represents what our members do best – Advice and Advocacy. And our positioning – line Listening First – underscores that commitment to professionalism. Advocis carries on the tradition of effectively representing its members' interests with all levels of government, regulators, and industry, always with the intention of putting the interests of consumers first.

As a single organization, Advocis represents thousands of professional advisors from coast to coast. Advocis members advise their clients on the short- and long-term financial needs of individuals, families, and owners of small and medium-sized businesses.

Our members provide financial services that are limited only by the needs of their clients. Those services include:
